The Baby Bump Photoshoot Guide: Best Weeks, Outfits & Poses
A maternity shoot is a love letter to the waiting — and the bump weeks go by faster than anyone warns you. Here's everything we tell mums-to-be at their planning call.
The best time: weeks 28–34
This is the sweet spot: the bump is beautifully round, but you're still comfortable standing, walking and changing outfits. Expecting twins? Plan 3–4 weeks earlier. Feeling great at 36 weeks? We'll still make it work — we just keep the session shorter and seated-friendly.
What to wear
- Flowing gowns — the classic for a reason; the silhouette does all the work. Our studio wardrobe has 15+ in all sizes, included in every package.
- Sarees — draped slightly above the bump, deeply elegant and very loved by grandparents.
- Casual knits — fitted tops and jeans for a natural, at-home feel.
Solid colours photograph best. Avoid small busy prints — they distract from the silhouette.
Studio, outdoor or home?
Studio gives sculpted, dramatic light and total privacy. Outdoor golden hour — riverfront lawns, gardens — gives that warm, airy glow. At home is the most intimate: the nursery, the window light, the quiet before everything changes. Our Bloom package combines studio and outdoor in one day.

Bring your people
Partner portraits are included in every package, and older siblings kissing the bump make the photos everyone cries over. This is a family milestone — bring the family.
